SERVICE HIGH SCHOOL PTSA 2015/2016 ACCOMPLISHMENTS
May 2016 Approved funding for snacks for Bike to School day. Approved funding for yearbooks for our graduating seniors who are in the Children in Transition Program. Provided funding for “In Memory Of” pins for seniors to wear at graduation (two year supply)
April 2016 Approved funding to for the Cross Country Running Team to purchase new singlets and shorts to replace ancient uniforms. Approved funding to provide Fred Meyer and Starbucks gift cards to our graduating seniors who are in the Children in Transition program.
March 2016 Approved funding for the non-Seminar English and social studies programs to purchase interactive student notebooks. Approved the purchase of Fred Meyer gift cards for two SHS students who were displaced from their homes due to a fire. Approved funding to allow economically disadvantaged students to register for AP testing. Approved a resolution to oppose SB89, legislation, which would limit the authority of local school districts.
February 2016 Supported the Senior Class of 2016 by funding the buses used to transport the students to and from Senior Fun Day at Kincaid Park. Donated money to support a fundraiser breakfast that the senior class is hosting for a senior student who has recently been diagnosed with lymphoma. Provided funding to support the student led suicide awareness and prevent group “You Are Not Alone”. Hosted an appreciation lunch for over 140 SHS teachers and staff.
January 2016 Approved Funding for a Recognition Luncheon for all freshmen who made the honor roll or had perfect attendance during the fall 2015 semester. Donated $4000 to the “Every 15 Minutes” drunk driving awareness program to be held at SHS on April 13 and 14, 2016. Approved donation of Spirit Wear sweatshirts to SHS students who are “Children in Transition”.
December 2015 Approved purchase of Fred Meyer gift cards for SHS students who are “Children in Transition. Approved funding for the Hockey Booster Club’s “Superhero for a Day” event, which will raise money for the Partner’s Club. Approved funding for Wilderness Recreation “Kids don’t Float” program”.
November 2015 Approved funding for the purchase of new uniforms for the entire baseball team, replacing uniforms that were twelve years old. Approved funding to send 90 students to the performance of “Othello” at the Perseverance Theater.
October 2015 Distributed “Caught Being Good” cards to SHS staff, a $1 coupon redeemable at the Cache by students who’ve done a good deed. Donated SHS Spirit Wear to the music department for their annual fundraiser.
September 2015 Funded Principal’s Discretionary fund. This is the principal’s fund for buses, rentals, uniforms etc. Approved funding for lunch for the freshmen attending “Change of Heart” training program.
August 2015 Approved funding for the new Stadium Sound System, which benefits all outdoor school activities.
